Photonic Integrated Circuit Engineer

Quantum Futures has been retained by an innovative photonic start-up in the US who are looking for a Photonic Integrated Circuit Engineer to join their team.


As a PIC engineer, you will be working closely with a team of scientists to advance their innovative projects to enable them to be market leaders within photonics. You will have the chance to work with a highly skilled team conducting research and development to build fast, low-loss single-photon compatible integrated photonic components for quantum computing applications.


Responsibilities:


You will be designing, simulating, and optimizing photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for specific applications using industry-standard software tools.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing fabrication processes for PICs, working closely with fabrication facilities

You will be working effectively within cross-functional teams, sharing your expertise and managing projects to ensure successful outcomes.

You will be conducting experiments, tests, and measurements to validate PIC performance and troubleshoot any issues.



Requirements:


The successful candidate will have a background with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field with a focus on PIC design and development.

They will have experience in designing, simulating, and optimizing complex Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) for cutting-edge applications.

They will have experience in industry-standard simulation tools, such as Lumerical, RSoft, COMSOL, or similar.

They will have In-depth knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes, cleanroom experience, and hands-on expertise in PIC fabrication.

Strong interest in learning new skills, a strong work ethic who is willing to put in the extra effort.

Strong understanding of a wide range of photonic components, including lasers, modulators, detectors, multiplexers, and waveguides

Candidates must be eligible to work without sponsorship in US and relocate.

A suitable candidate would be interested in moving into photonic start up or full stack companies that push the boundaries of technology. Our client is in stealth and is in the process of merging with $15 million in funding, presenting a unique opportunity for experienced (PIC) engineers to join a cutting-edge start-up at the forefront of designing next-generation quantum technologies in silicon.
